In preparation of Women’s History Month, we are spotlighting accomplished women leaders in the Los Cabos travel segment. In this article, we focus on Julie Byrd, President of CaboVillas.com, who has spent over two decades growing the company to what is it today.
What is a typical day like for you as president of Cabo Villas?
Julie: “A typical day for me involves a diverse range of responsibilities. Firstly, I work closely with property owners to optimize revenue and occupancy and ensure that our properties are performing at their best. Additionally, I engage in learning and networking with other Nocturne Luxury Villas (NLV) leaders and tap into the resources offered by our parent company to enhance our offerings. A significant part of my role involves overseeing operations directors and their respective teams – ensuring smooth operations across the board. Another aspect of my role as president is working with our teams to ensure our guest experience is the best it can be — whether that means reviewing our villa inventory/condition, training our teams to provide even more personalized service, or reviewing new offerings to enhance our program. Lastly, I keep a close eye on industry trends and use this knowledge to create promotional strategies that align with best practices in the industry.”
Where are you from originally?
Julie: “I proudly hail from the California Bay Area, and my journey with Los Cabos began in 1990 when I first fell in love with this breathtaking destination. Since then, it has become my second home and a place I hold dear to my heart. For over 30 years, the coastal community of Aptos California has been my home base. This connection between two beautiful coastal locales has enriched my life in countless ways.”
As a woman leader in travel, why is it important to you to be a role model?
Julie: “As a woman leader in the travel industry, I believe it’s crucial to serve as a role model for others. Representation matters, and seeing women in leadership positions at this level can be incredibly empowering. I’ve climbed the ranks from starting as a reservation agent to becoming the president of the company through hard work, dedication, and smart decision-making. Every day, I strive to lead by example and demonstrate to my team that with perseverance and determination that anything is possible.”
Can you share with us what the trajectory of your career was like?
Julie: “My journey to becoming president of CaboVillas.com has been one of passion and dedication. After attending travel school, I embarked on a career in the travel industry, starting with Classic Vacations, and gradually working my way up through various companies. I chose to specialize in a single destination, which ultimately led me to Cabo Villas, where I’ve spent the last 22 years. Beginning in reservations, and working in almost every position in the company, I’ve gained invaluable experience and insights that have prepared me for my current role.”

Julie: “One of the most cherished memories I have at CaboVillas.com was the celebration of my 20th work anniversary combined with my 50th birthday. This special event provided a profound opportunity for reflection on the journey that has shaped me professionally and personally. The occasion was made even more memorable by the vibrant display of camaraderie with our local Los Cabo representatives and vendors, which showcased the strong bonds that define Los Cabos’ greatness.”

Julie: “Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for the future of CaboVillas.com, particularly as part of NLV and growing our inventory in the Los Cabos region. We’re also focused on expanding our offerings, “Beyond Cabo,” introducing travelers to hidden gems such as, Bahía de los Sueños, Cabo Pulmo, Lighthouse Point Estates, East Cape, La Paz, Todos Santos, and more.
